Tartar sauce is really easy to put together and can be used in many ways. Besides for dipping, I like to use tartar sauce as a base for sandwiches like po'boys or fish sandwiches. Some recipes can get complicated as you add more ingredients, so this is a basic version with optional ingredients to add on if you wish.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 small dill pickle (finely diced) or use 3-4 Tbsp premade relish if you like it sweeter
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp worchestire sauce
optional:
1 Tbsp capers
1 tsp white wine vinegar
1 Tbsp dill
1 Tbsp hot sauce
1/4 small onion finely diced
Combine all of the ingredients above in a bowl until thoroughly mixed together. It tastes better if you refrigerate it for 30 minutes before serving so this can definitely be made ahead, and will last for a good week at least if you store it in an airtight container.
